 Spring 2024

The Re-B team is working up a rich menu of interesting initiatives and Spring is in full swing

  • Wildflower Wander - Walk 1: Saturday 27 April from 10-12.30 am. Explore a stunning, local nature reserve, not usually open to the public, as part of a series of Nature Awareness Days arranged by 4Bs Community Biodiversity Park. Spaces are limited so book asap by emailing: simonhinsurrey@gmail.com
  • 4Bs Biodiversity park - what is it and how can you get involved? Take a look at the 4Bs Biodiversity dedicated website for more information. In the meantime, Re-B trustee, Norman Jackson, is planning to run a number of Biodiversity talks and workshops in the coming months. Find out more here.
  • Knepp Estate group visit - be inspired to go wild! If you’ve ever thought about, or are in the process of re-wilding a section of your garden, this trip is a 'must' for you. SOLD OUT!
  • Betchworth Forest School 2024 booking form is here. The programme runs on the first Saturday of each month from 6 April 2024 through the summer term. We're open to children aged between 5-10 years, from Betchworth and surrounding villages. Under 5’s are welcome if accompanied by an adult.  Cost - £15 per session. We still have some spaces left...BOOK NOW!
  • Our mid-winter Wassail was a resounding success, with wassailers coming from far and wide. So we've already set the date for next year - Saturday 11th January 2025, 4-6pm - save the date! And we're planning a bit of extra fun for the next one, starting with a competition for the best Wassail hat.
  • Did you take part in the January BirdWatch? Take a look at Norman Jackson's update on our  Betchworth Birdwatch.
  • We’ll continue our series of hands-on, practical workshops on scything, possibly adding one on spoon whittling and another on the ‘Dead Hedging’ alternative to bonfire
  • ‘nature art’ competition for children
  • Encouraged by the interest in fungi, we’re looking to start a seasonal series of guided foraging walks.  Maybe we finish each with a plant-based cooking evening too?

We’ll also continue our series of Zoom talks, bringing in experts to share their knowledge on-line.

You’ll hear more in future newsletters plus the occasional email alert from us. And if one or other of the above particularly floats your boat, let us know here. All feedback and ideas welcome!
