Betchworth Repair Café & sewing school...

repair cafe montage (800 x 400

Our popular Repair Café returns to Betchworth Village Hall at 10.30 on 28 November, with
an added bonus! Ever wanted to learn the lost art of basic hand-sewing?

If you’ve never quite mastered how to secure a loose button, mend a split seam, or rescue a fallen hem, we’ve got you covered. Two of our resident sewing pros will be running a mini-workshop to share their insider tips, showing you just how quick and easy it is to tackle these everyday fixes yourself.

Our usual team of volunteer repairers will be waiting to deal with your broken stuff: that thing that’s too good to chuck and just needs a little fixing - the vacuum cleaner with a worn cable, a jacket that needs letting out or in, the pressure washer with no pressure, a toaster that’s just not toasting like it used to.

We’ll tackle textiles, clothing, leather, electrical items, mechanical items, tech and some PAT testing too. We're not antique restoration experts and we don’t stock spare parts, but here’s your chance to save an item from landfill and get it repaired while enjoying a coffee, tea and other refreshments while you wait.

No need to book - just turn up! Last items are taken in at 12.30pm to ensure we are out of the hall at 1.00 pm. Repairs are free, though an optional donation is greatly appreciated to cover the costs of hall hire, insurance, PAT testing equipment etc.
