A record-breaking day for Applefest!

On Saturday 4 October we had a record-breaking turnout at Betchworth Village Hall for our annual apple pressing event.
Despite an iffy forecast and a brief downpour, the sun shone all day and great fun was had by all. We'll be posting the full report here soon, but here are some headline figures:
-
We had around 590 visitors.
-
1.6 tonnes of fruit was juiced - more than three times last year’s volume!
-
48 visitors brought 913kg of apples to be juiced
-
our picking team had already harvested around 700-800kg before the day
-
then the home team brought another 200-300kg on the morning
-
the children's activities, run by Betchworth Forest camp proved hugely popular
-
demand for home-made cakes, tea and coffee was non-stop
-
and the cake-baking competition had more entrants then ever!
More details to come. In the meantime, huge thanks to everybody who made this special day possible.
